In class, we have been learning how to make a puoro and how to make a sound in it. I enjoyed making the puoro
Introduction
What is a puoro? A puoro is kind of like an instrument that makes an interesting sound like a whistle. It can be useful for a kapa haka group of Maori traditional music, and a puoro can calm down people if they're down or angry.
Making a puoro
Firstly, you need some red clay or white clay. You need to break it into equal halves. Once when it is in an equal halve you need to grab one half and make it into a ball. Do it to the other half. When you do all of those things you need to poke a hole through your clay. Not all the way. Then you pinch the sides of your puoro, then you grab like a ruler or a pencil to scrape the rim of the puoro
Making music
Lastly, you put your puoro together like kind of squashing it together and then you drill a hole with your pinky until you fill a big space, and then you blow it into the hole but you need to blow half in and half out because that's how you make a big loud noise.
Summary
Lastly, I learned how to make a beautiful Puoro and it's actually so fun to make one of these when you have nothing to do at your house.
